The 80th anniversary of the final battle of September 1939 Campaign is just behind us!
The celebrations were hosted by Adamów commune and the media patronage over the jubilee celebrations has been taken by the National Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda. The event was inaugurated with a Holy Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady, the Patron Saint of the Soldiers of September in Wola Gułowska. After the mass, at the monastery meadowlands, the 19th Mechanized Brigade from Lublin, which adopted the traditions of Independent Operational Group “Polesie”, was ceremonially named after general Franciszek Kleeberg. During the ceremony, veterans of the last battle: Lt. Col. Reserve Mieczysław Żygłowicz and Lt. Reserve Franciszek Skrzypczyk, were honored with medals and national awards.
An undoubted attraction for visitors, both the little ones and adults, was the ceremonial parade with the participation of military equipment, cavalry as well as numerous military shows. Among many things, the visitors had an opportunity to watch a modern IFV “Rosomak”, Leopard tanks, as well as historical military equipment. The ceremony was crowned with a military picnic with military field kitchen pea soup and various attractive entertainments.
It was great pleasure for Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia S.A. to have visited Wola Gułowska. Even the low temperature was not able to discourage the public who joyfully came to visit our exhibition tent. Thank you for the invitation and warm welcome.
